Epilogue.

So to reflect now I am back in my home. Having six weeks away you would imagine there would be time to think things through as I went, but for the most part I was wrapped up in the present trying to make sure I didn't miss flights and busy visiting places. In the calm I can now look back. There are a phone full of photos that didn't make the cut, they are now all safely on my laptop. It is customary after such journeys to pick out the bits that thrilled and the bits that didn't.

I have already been asked for the best bit and that is difficult. Expectation normally plays a big part in the decision. I expected to enjoy Washington, Machu Pichhu, Lake Titicaca, the salt flats, Atacama, Iguazu and Rio which I did immensely. The unexpected star was the mine at Potosi, brought to life by my guide. The surprising bits were when I was walking in a city or travelling on a bus and came across something quite unexpected, something you just wouldn't see at home.

Worst bit, the harassment and getting ripped off by taxi drivers at airports pales into insignificance compared to the money crisis and my bank. I have already opened another current account elsewhere and will fight it out for compensation.

Place I would go back to, I liked Rio but it is a long way to go. I am much more likely to go back to Washington with its museums and a trip to Iceland will be on the cards.

Place I would have left out, Lima, very ordinary not worth the effort.

Rio on Tuesday...

Cromhall shortly after I had got back...

And finally, when I left AstraZeneca I was given this present;

Well you were right Mr Webster.

Suppose I'd better find a job!
